Mayor Brian Bowman and the City of Winnipeg have pledged to work at reconciliation and our Church of St. Stephen and St. Bede, and St. James Anglican, were among the faith groups to sign on.
​Pastor Murray attended the ceremony in the morning of Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Forks to sign the Accord.

June is Indigenous Awareness Month 2017
Our two churches, St James and St Stephen and St Bede have partnered with Urban Indigenous Mission Developer Vincent Solomon to offer educational programs around Indigenous issues. This is in response to a resolution adopted at the last Anglican diocesan Synod that calls all churches to offer education on indigenous issues," as well as "a response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action to the Church."

The harvest from the garden will be used to supplement our Food Bank packages along with counseling on healthy meal planning by a professional dietician.

Trivia Night 
With a Halloween Twist
On Saturday, October 29, 2016, St. Stephen and St. Bede hosted a successful Halloween-themed Trivia Night.  A St. James Anglican Church team won the competition trophy, while the Rev. Ted Chell took the prize for best costume dressed as the Pope.

Church Barbecue
Ill-timed rain showers failed to dampen anyone's enthusiasm or appetite during a barbecue at the church on Wednesday, May 25.   Many thanks to those who turned out despite the weather, and to those who organized. Farewell Pastor Kerr
Members of St. James Anglican and St. Stephen and St Bede met May 15 with members of the board and The Urban to serve sandwiches at the farewell celebration for Pastor Deb Kerr. Pastor Kerr is leaving for Calgary after serving four years as director of the Urban. The board will meet shortly to determine an interim pastor for the Urban.

Mount Royal Food Bank
The Church of St. Stephen and St. Bede hosts the Mount Royal Food Bank on alternate Thursdays in partnership with Winnipeg Harvest.

Paint Night at St. Stephen and St. Bede was a tremendous success!  The fundraiser on Monday evening, February 6, 2017, had a great turnout, was lots of fun and produced many fine pieces of art. See our Photo Gallery for more pictures of this event and more examples of faith in action.

Seder Supper
On the eve of Good Friday (Maundy Thursday) in 2015, we hosted a Seder Supper and intend to make it a tradition. As a re-enactment of the Last Supper, the event includes the washing of feet and stripping of the altar ahead of Good Friday.

Mission Sundays and Missional Activities
On occasion St. Stephen and St. Bede hosts Mission Sundays, bringing in a guest speaker to highlight some aspect of mission or ministry.  The purpose is to encourage members of the Christian community to consider the ministry of servanthood.

Christian-Muslim Partnerships
Proceeds from a fundraiser St. James Anglican Church hosted on October 12, 2016 will support the efforts of its Myungwe link parish in Central Buganda to build a health clinic.   About 35 members of St. James and the Church of St. Stephen and St. Bede turned out to the educational evening and pot luck supper.  Special guest Bishop Jackson Matovu from the Central Buganda Diocese spoke about the partnerships of Muslims and Christians working together to complete the project.
